Eve ng cisco switch3/15/2024 I mean sure, you can use GNS3 and VMware (creating network adapter after network adapter and cloud node upon cloud node) but even though it could get the job done it becomes difficult to manage eventually and doesn't scale quite well. With that many applications though, building a test/study lab on a budget can get rather woolly. From GNS3 to VMware (ESXi, Workstation, Player) to Virtualbox, I've tried them all and was able to build really nice labs for study and/or POC for our customers.įor those who haven't heard yet, Cisco have recently announced that they're refreshing the CCIE Collaboration track (), which basically seems to allow almost 100% virtualization. Doesn't matter if you're a sysadmin, network admin, devops, dev, security etc - virtualization is everywhere. Like a lot of tech/engineering guys/gals I know, virtualization has played a big role in helping me keep up with technology and getting hands on experience. There are probably more things I could have done in terms of wording or formatting but that was never the purpose of this write up. This post should be treated more as a "tech how-to" rather than literature or some of the articles I see going around on Linkedin nowadays.
